Are cars becoming quaint?

Just a few months ago we reported in the Big Blue Dot Trend Update that for US teens coming of age no longer automatically means getting one's license. A lot of reasons were sited including the cost in both time and money. Now even the car manufacturers are keen on the data from this
new trend and doing some heavy duty thinking about what that will mean in the future. Right now fewer than half of all eligible 16 year olds gets his or license, a dramatic decrease in just a decade.

So what will this mean for future generations of car makers?

How will kids id themselves?

What does it mean for travel in general?

Will teens be safer?

We'll keep an eye on how this trend takes shape over time!

BBD TREND UPDATE EVOLVES

First it was the Big Blue Box-a quarterly report delivered with a box full of goodies-for a fee.

Then it was a free mailed newsletter called Out Of The Blue.

Next a subscriber based list-serv bi-monthly email called The Big Blue Dot Trend Update.

It then morphed into a monthly delivered email still The Big Blue Dot Trend Update.

And now once again the Update evolves into the BBD TREND Updates Blog.

Join me for regular and irregular thoughts about what is going on in the world of kids,
what it means, and how to harness the ideas!

Cheers!
